Dr. Deepak Kaura — Founder and Chief Executive Officer
He has spent his career on the other side of the desk.
Deepak Kaura is a pediatric radiologist — for most of his working life, the person at the end of the referral, opening a requisition and seeing that the study in front of him was never going to answer the clinical question. Not through carelessness, but through a system where the guidance exists, peer-reviewed and published, and nothing puts it in front of the clinician at the moment the order is written.
Most radiologists live with that. He went and learned how to fix it — building hospitals, governing the profession, and moving regulated technology into public health systems. At 1QBit he and his team took a chest radiography AI tool through expedited Health Canada approval in April 2020, a week after clinical trials closed; within days it was deployed clinically. He is Chair of the CAN Health Network, the national partnership built to get Canadian health solutions adopted by Canadian health systems.
appropriate.health is what those pieces add up to — not a technology looking for a health problem, but the tool a radiologist who has sat in the reading room, the regulator's queue and the procurement conversation concluded was missing.
